Malaysian singer Mohd Ali Kamarudin, better known as Mamat.

Singer Mamat said his drug addiction almost killed his big dreams to be an entertainer, reported Utusan Malaysia.

Mamat or Mohd Ali Kamarudin, 36, who was detained in 2011 for taking methamphetamines and was under police supervision for two years, said that he had stopped taking drugs.

He said he regretted taking drugs because it had led to him losing his family.

"I know that many are still talking about me behind my back but this is what I have to go through.

"This will serve as a reminder to me so as not to get into any immoral activities again," he said.
