Sistar sizzle

It was a hot and humid yesterday evening. And sexy K-pop girl group Sistar made it even hotter when they performed at the Skechers after-party at the outdoor area of Ion Orchard.

The popular four-member A-list group took to the stage at 8pm in tight shorts and cropped tops to deafening screams from the 1,000-strong crowd, which consisted mostly of fans and some surprised tourists shopping in the area.

Sistar performed three of their chart-topping hits, Shake It, Ma Boy and Touch My Body, complete with soaring vocals and sultry dance moves.

During the catchy Ma Boy, the members showed off their signature body wave dance move to accompany the chorus.

In their new song Shake It, the girls performed their popular butt-twisting dance to the delight of fans, who went wild and screamed.

It was a short performance but it was free and fans from their teens to late twenties had started queueing from 3pm to watch their idols.

Student Jessica Tan, 15, said: "This is my first time seeing them. I like them because they are sexy and have really good bodies.

"I have waited here since 4pm so that I can get a good spot to see them."

Teacher Nadia Zakeri, 21, said: "They are very talented. I know most of the dance steps to their songs. I am excited about seeing them for the first time today."

Sistar, who made their music comeback on June 22 with Shake It, is the new brand ambassador of shoe company Skechers.

They were in town yesterday for the opening of the new Skechers flagship store at Ngee Ann City. Earlier in the day, the quartet met the media for interviews at Mandarin Orchard Singapore. (See report on right.)

'HOT'

Upon seeing their excited fans at Ion Orchard, the bubbly group exclaimed on stage in English: "Wow! Now I feel so hot!"

Member Soyou said through a translator: "It's not our first time in Singapore and it's good to see everyone again."

The group was here in 2012 for a joint fan meet with K-pop boyband Boyfriend.

Their fans' reactions yesterday showed how thrilled they were to see their idols again.

Student Candy Lim, 16, said: "They are so talented and they can sing and dance so well. I am inspired by them to take up dancing. It has been a hot day waiting to catch them in action, but it is worth it."

What kind of men do they prefer?

Sexy foursome Sistar are best known for their sultry dance moves.

But when asked if they would prefer to date a man who can cook or dance, two of them said they would rather go out with the former.

Dasom, 22, said at an interview at Mandarin Orchard Singapore yesterday: "I like a guy who can cook. I love to eat good food. Dating a guy who can cook would make me very happy."

Bora, 25, shared the sentiment: "Same here! I can dance well, so I don't need a guy who can dance. It would be better if the guy can cook for me."

Fellow member Soyou, 23, disagreed, saying: "I can cook well and I would like to prepare delicious meals for the guy. I don't need a guy who can cook well because he might criticise my cooking."

Hyorin did not comment.

The girls clearly enjoy their food as they reminisced about their time in Singapore during a previous fan meet.

Sistar, who made their debut in 2010, have many fans the world over. For them, the most unforgettable fan encounter was in Paris, where they performed.

Dasom recounted: "We didn't expect to have many fans in Europe as we were there for the first time. However, many fans showed up and they knew the Korean words to our songs.

"When they sang along, we... were crying inside as we were so touched."
