The highly-anticipated upcoming TV drama "The Producers" revealed its lineup of stars who will make cameo appearances early on in the series, Thursday.
K-pop singers Taeyeon, Tiffany and Seohyun from Girls' Generation will appear in the first two episodes. The three singers, who together comprise subunit TaeTiSeo, will play themselves.
Other celebrities to appear in "The Producers" are Hwang Shin-hye, Hyun Young, Youn Yuh-jung and Geum Bo-ra.
Hwang, Hyun, Youn and Geum will all feature in the reality TV programme "2 Days and 1 Night -- Season 4" within the TV drama, which is fictitiously produced by the character played by Cha Tae-hyun.
Actress Jo Yoon-hee will also make a cameo appearance as a producer and the unrequited love interest of the main character Baek Seung-chan, played by Kim Soo-hyun.
A staff member of "The Producers" said Thursday that the drama series hopes to be all the more "lively and amusing" with the star-studded cameo lineup.
"We plan to offer entertainment with characters that are both real and fictional," the staff member said.
"The Producers" has gained attention well before its official broadcast, since it is the follow-up project of both actor Kim Soo-hyun and screenwriter Park Ji-eun, who previously collaborated on the hit TV drama "My Love from the Star."
Kim stars as a hapless aspiring TV programme producer in the series. Other lead actors are Cha Tae-hyun, Gong Hyo-jin and K-pop singer IU.
The rights to "The Producers" were recently sold to a Chinese online platform for over $2.4 million (S$3.2 million).
"The Producers" kicks off on Friday at 9:15 pm (UTC +9:00) and is expected to air 12 episodes.
