Over 15,000 fans are expected to throng the venue for a four-hour concert by the acclaimed composer, singer and lyricist, jointly organised by My Events International and Mojo Resources.

My Events International group chief executive officer Shahul Hameed Shaikh Dawood said 15 artistes and film directors will also be gracing the event.

"Among those invited are actors Ramarajan, Poornima Jayaram and Ramki along with directors P. Vasu and Gautham Vasudev Menon," he told a press conference yesterday.

Illaiyaraaja's two sons - music directors Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja - will also take to the stage to perform some of their father's greatest hits.

Joining them will be popular singers S.P. Bala, K.S. Chitra, Mano, Haricharan, Krish and Madhu Balakrishnan among others.

Backing them up will be 70 orchestra performers from India. Collectively, the performers are expected to present about 45 songs from the legendary musician.

Throughout his career spanning nearly 40 years, Illaiyaraaja has composed over 4,500 songs and provided scores for over 950 Indian films in various languages.

He was conferred the title "Isaignani" (maestro) in 1988, and has received numerous awards and honorary doctorates both from India and other countries.

Meanwhile, Shahul Hameed advised those attending the concert to arrive early and use public transport.

"Although the event starts at 7.30pm, the gates will open at 5pm. Parking is limited, so we advise those coming to take the monorail and alight at Maharajalela station," he added.
