SINGAPORE - The cast of The Amazing Spider-Man 2: Rise of Electro joined hundreds for the Earth Hour event at The Float in Marina Bay.
Spider-Man played by Andrew Garfield is this year's first superhero ambassador for Earth Hour.
"We went to the Commonwealth Secondary school here and they shared their work on sustainability. It's an inspiration for all of us. Steady lah," said Garfield at the event on Saturday.
He also officiated the event's trademark Lights Off moment with co-stars Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, director Marc Webb and producer Avi Arad.
CEO and co-founder of Earth Hour Andy Ridley hopes Spider-man will inspire people to do their part for the environment.
"You have the power to change the world," said Ridley.
Visitors were also urged check out Earth Hour Blue, world's first crowd sourcing website geared towards project aimed at saving the environment.
This year's landmark for Lights Off in Singapore include Marina Bay Sands and ArtScience Museum.
Earth Hour is a global environment event organised by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). Over 7,000 cities around the world participated to turn off the lights at major landmarks for one hour.
