Stars go naked: The bare facts

Stars go naked: The bare facts

1. "I'm baring my soul... and a lot more"

How do you convince your audience that you're shattered over a relationship?

You get naked, literally.

Rihanna did it in her music video for Stay, soaking in a bathtub as we emotional women would like to do. But she's Rihanna, so she doesn't get wrinkly skin when she stays in the water for too long.

Miley Cyrus pulled the same "I'm heartbroken and I refuse to wear clothes" stunt for Wrecking Ball, but the song's more violent edge also had her swinging from an actual wrecking ball, and getting tonguetastically close to other wrecking tools.

2. "I love women and their nudity celebrates that"

Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines music video saw the singer and his collaborators Pharrell Williams and rapper T.I. leer at three barely-clothed models while appreciating their collective hotness in the song's lyrics.

Recently married John Legend loves women, too, notably his model-wife Chrissy Teigen, whose nudity will be on display in the upcoming music video for the single All of Me.

3. "I'm young and hot, and I know it"

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea is a pretender to the Nicki Minaj throne, but she does not quite have the assets to match - we are not just talking about her rapping skills.

We guess that while shooting the burlesque scenes for her Change Your Life music video, she realised that a see-through, diamond-studded bodysuit was not risqué enough - hence the surprising and unnecessary addition of a scene of her getting out of a pool with red pasties on and not much else.

4. "I need all the help I can get"

When TV stars try to start music careers, they usually fail.

But Glee's Naya Rivera was not having any of that.

The lyric video - not even the actual video - for her new single Sorry, featuring boyfriend Big Sean, has the lyrics projected on four hot girls.

"Sorry, I'm not sorry," sings Rivera about stealing a man from another girl.

Well, sorry, we're not sorry to tell you that the song's kinda dumb.

5. "Mine is not a copy, it is a piece of art"

Justin Timberlake did not want to come across as copying Thicke.

After all, they have long been accused of stealing sounds from each other, both white guys trying to make a living from sexy R&B jams.

So Timberlake satisfied his itch to feature naked girls in his music video by making the music video for Tunnel Vision look like an art installation-cummodern dance recital.

High art, eh?
