It was just a punch, but it had the world talking.

For good reason, because it involved two celebrities and apparently it was over a supermodel.

The Lord Of The Rings actor Orlando Bloom threw a punch at Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber outside Cipriana restaurant in Ibiza, Spain, on Tuesday.

Bloom missed, but it still provided fodder for online speculation, Mail Online reported.

The day after the incident, Bieber, 20, posted an image of his 37-year-old foe crying.

The photo was taken last year when Bloom was being comforted by his co-star after he became emotional during the premiere of his Broadway play, Romeo and Juliet.

The singer took the picture down, but put it back up after about 20 minutes.

This was done after Bieber posted a sexy snap of Bloom's estranged wife Miranda Kerr, then took it down just hours after the near-brawl.

Instagram fans described the incident as the "real fight between elf and a dwarf".

Video footage shows Bloom taking a swing at the pop star.

Afterwards, Bieber is seen throwing gang signs with his friend Khalil outside the venue.

The incident was recorded by onlookers as Bieber crossed paths with the actor shortly after entering the venue with his entourage. Some reports said some patrons at the restaurant cheered after Bloom's punch.

Bieber's security team promptly pulled the two apart before the incident spilled over into the street, with the singer reportedly calling the British actor a "b****".

Many suspect the superstars' feud was sparked by love triangles, Irish Independent reported.

Bieber famously partied with Kerr in 2012 after a Victoria's Secret fashion show in New York City.

And in April, Bieber's ex, Selena Gomez, hung out with Bloom frequently, sparking romance rumours.

The actor has been single since the breakdown of his marriage last year.

Kerr made an Instagram statement of her own following news of the fight.

She shared a photo on the photo-sharing site of herself holding hands with their three-year-old son, Flynn.

She and Flynn had their backs to the camera and her accompanying caption read: "O G".

Representatives for Bloom and Bieber have refused to comment on the matter.
