At Sunday's Emmy Awards, US country singer Carrie Underwood, 30, and American actor Don Cheadle, 48, paid tribute to US President John F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his assassination, and to the Beatles on the 50th anniversary of the group's first performance on the Ed Sullivan Show.
They honoured the role that TV played in both events with an emotional presentation by Cheadle and a song by Underwood.
But Underwood's rendition of the Beatles' Yesterday received mixed reviews. Some called her performance "dazzling and beautiful" while others described it as "off-key and unnecessary".
