The guys behind WongFu Productions, which has over two million YouTube subscribers, will be in town tomorrow (Dec 13) to preview their movie. Time magazine reported the production company has raised over US$358,000 (S$448,000) on Indiegogo for its first full-length feature film.
This preview is part of the #OhhSOME Fest, which stands for Ohh Social Media Festival.
WongFu Productions is helmed by Asian-Americans Wesley Chan, Ted Fu and Philip Wang, who have produced popular short films After Us, Strangers, again, The Last, Two After Noon and a music video for Taiwanese superstar Wang Leehom.
The two-day event also features Asian-American singer David Choi. The local talents appearing are the band Skyward (part the filmmaking group TheMingThing), pop singer Elizabeth Tan and filmmaker/actor Joseph Germani.
There will also be inspirational talks and sharing sessions from Marcus Tan, the co-founder of online marketplace app Carousell and rising comic artist Ernest Ng of Bro, don't like that la, bro fame.These personalities were hand-picked by TEDxKL organiser Daniel Cerventus.
The #OhhSome Fest will be held at Avenue K, Kuala Lumpur and is presented by Maxis Hotlink.
Maxis Bhd head of marketing Lau Su Lin said, "It's made by the community for the community. It's an offline gathering for the online social media community."
