MALACCA - Police have detained 10 boys following reports of alleged sexual harassment by their schoolmates in Alor Gajah and Melaka Tengah districts.

The students from two schools were picked up from their homes on Thursday following reports lodged by four schoolgirls.

Police acted fast after a 14-year-old student in Alor Gajah alleged that four boys had recorded a video of her in the nude and distributed it to other students.

In the other incident in Melaka Tengah, three 15-year-old girls alleged that they were harassed by a male classmate.

The 14-year-old girl claimed that four of her seniors including a 15-year-old who have been expelled from school, had forcefully taken her on a motorcycle ride while she was at a grocery shop in Alor Gajah on June 12.

She claimed that she was brought to a nearby secondary jungle where she was stripped naked and one of them shot the video before she managed to escape and run back home.

She claimed that she kept silent about her ordeal until Aug 19 when five students dragged her into an empty classroom and started fondling her, apparently after watching the video.

A teacher who saw them running away and leaving the girl alone in the classroom, took her to the disciplinary teacher.

Upon learning that the video was widely spread, the girl lodged a police report on Thursday.

On the same day, the schoolgirls from a school in Melaka Tengah also lodged a police report against the boy for hugging and fondling them during classes.

They claimed that the boy had two accomplices who would keep watch for him when he entered classrooms whenever teachers were away to harass and bully them by fondling and uttering profanities.

State CID chief Asst Comm Kamaluddin Kassim said the state education department has been informed of the arrests as it involves juveniles.

"We are concerned over this development and police feel that these students need spiritual guidance and right values," he said when contacted.
