10-year-old boy knocked down while crossing road in Yishun

Stomp contributor Lee was along Yishun Ring Road yesterday (May 14) at around 6.30pm when he saw a group of curious onlookers gathering around a young boy lying on the road. 

The boy was knocked down by a car while he was crossing the road to get to a bus stop, said Lee, adding that he sustained 'serious injuries'.

Said the reader: "I heard a loud bang and when I turned around, I saw a boy lying on the road.

"His whole head was bloody. The boy tried sitting up but passersby told him not to move.

"Soon after the accident, some medical personnel came to the scene and tended to the boy before the ambulance arrived."

In the photos the reader contributed, onlookers can be seen surrounding the boy as he is tended to by paramedics from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and medical personnel.

A police spokesperson told Stomp: "On 14th of May 2017 at 6.30pm, police were alerted to an accident involving a car and a pedestrian along Yishun Ring Road, towards Yishun Avenue 2.

"A 10-year-old male pedestrian was conscious when conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital. Police investigations are ongoing."

A spokesperson from the SCDF added that the boy sustained head injuries.
