SINGAPORE - Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers uncovered 1,205 cartons of duty-unpaid cigarettes from a Malaysia-registered bus on Saturday morning at the Tuas Checkpoint.
The bus, which was driven by a 33-year-old Malaysian man, also had 135kg of chewing tobacco concealed within the modified compartments.
The duty and GST of the contraband cigarettes and chewing tobacco amount to about $133,820 and $11,820 respectively.
The driver, the seized exhibits and the bus were handed over to Singapore Customs for further investigations.
