12,900 counterfeit mobile phones and accessories seized from Little India shops

SINGAPORE - A total of 12,900 counterfeit mobile phones and accessories with an estimated street value of about $600,000 were seized from shops in Little India on Wednesday.

Police from the Criminal Investigation Department raided 16 shops and arrested 11 men, aged between 27 and 46, for their suspected involvement in the sales and distribution of counterfeit mobile phone and accessories.

Investigations are ongoing.

Anyone found guilty of selling or distributing infringing goods with falsely applied trade mark may be fined up to $100,000, or jailed up to five years, or both.
