PETALING JAYA - Sixteen luxury cars of various brands were seized during a raid at Bandar Country Homes, Rawang.
A team of Customs officers investigating a case of suspected tax evasion arrived at a double-storey house at around 3pm on Friday and uncovered the foreign cars, comprising brands such as Mazda, Audi and Honda, that were still bearing Singaporean registration numbers.
It is believed that the ground floor of the house was used for storage while the upper floor was used as living space.
It is also believed that foreign cars were modified in the area before being re-registered locally.
Twelve of the cars were sent to the Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) for temporary safekeeping while the remaining vehicles will be brought in later.
It is said that neighbours had no idea about the activity happening in the area until the raid took place.
It is learnt that MPS will be taking action against the owner of the house for wrongful use of the building.
