2 dead in Sunday morning fire at Bukit Timah bungalow

SINGAPORE - Two bodies were found by firefighters who were called to put out a fire at a Bukit Timah Bungalow early in the morning today.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said that they were alerted of the fire at 4.16am today. SCDF said that resources were immediately dispatched to the location at 40 Jalan Gaharu. Two fire engines, one Red Rhino, two ambulances and one support appliance were sent to the location.

Upon arrival, SCDF personnel said they found the single storey unit blazing and immediately conducted fire fighting operations with three water jets.

SCDF said that "fire involved the contents of the unit" and that the fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.

Three occupants of the unit, one male and two females, were rescued and were sent to the National University Hospital (NUH) for smoke inhalation.

SCDF fire fighters also found two bodies in the unit.
