SINGAPORE - Two men, aged 25 and 42, have been arrested by the police for suspected involvement in a case of tortoise theft in the vicinity of Chinese Garden Road.
On Oct 15, at around 5.50pm, the 59-year-old victim reported that a tortoise, valued at about $2,000, was stolen three days ago.
After ground investigations and reviewing the CCTV footage, officers from Jurong Police Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested the 42-year-old at his residence at Jurong West Street 64 on Oct 22.
On the same day at around 7pm, his accomplice, 25, was arrested by the police in his residence at Mei Ling Street.
Both suspects will appear in court on Oct 24. If convicted, they will face a jail term up to three years, a fine, or both.
They are also liable for the offence of Cruelty To Animals which carries a fine up to $10,000 or a jail term up to 12 months, or both.
