2 nabbed hours after stealing Mercedes from KL home

KUALA LUMPUR - Two thieves were arrested by the police in less than two hours after they allegedly broken into a house and stole a car in Brickfields.

Sentul OCPD Asst Comm R. Munusamy said on Sunday that the suspects, both 23, were detained at a workshop in Jalan Tebing Timur, Jinjang Utara at about 6.50pm following an alert by the owner.

"The suspects were in the midst of changing the plate number of the vehicle, a silver Mercedes Benz, in a bid to escape authorities at road blocks.

"Investigations also revealed that they had broken into a similar car to steal the road tax after carting away with the Mercedes," he said at a press conference at the district police headquarters.

ACP Munusamy added that checks on the two found that they were wanted for robbery and drug-related cases.

The suspects are being remanded for three days until Monday.
