2 teenagers arrested for stealing a motorcycle

Police have arrested two men, aged 17 and 19, for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

At about 9am on July 30, the victim filed a report with the police stating that his motorcycle had been stolen from a multi-storey carpark located near Block 431 Yishun Ave 1.

After the report, Ang Mo Kio Police Division officers conducted ground enquiries and managed to establish the suspect's identity.

At about 2.30pm the next day, the two teenage suspects were arrested near the area around Block 636 Yishun Street 61.

The stolen motorcycle was also recovered on the same day at the same location.

The two suspects will be charged in court for theft of motor vehicle, which carries a maximum jail term of seven years and may shall also be liable to a fine.

Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Assistant Commisioner of Police Mr Lian Ghim Hua commended the officers' pursuit of leads that led to the arrest of the two suspects.

Mr Lian also advised members of the pulice to stay vigilant and encouraged motorcyclists to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

a) Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas ;

b) Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicle;

c) Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends; and

d) Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install suspension

guard.
