KUALA LUMPUR - Two teenagers have surrendered themselves to the police over the death of the youth who was attacked by a group of rowdy motorcyclists near a lake in Setapak near here.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Deputy Supt A. Asmadi Abdul Aziz said the two, aged 14 and 15, turned themselves in at the Wangsa Maju police station at 12.10pm yesterday.
This brings the total arrests to nine after seven were arrested by police on Friday.
He added the police are looking for five more suspects in connection with the murder.
The victim, Khairul Idzham, 19, was with five friends at a hut near the lake at Taman Tasik Ing Tai Kim, Setapak, when they saw a group of about 20 motorcyclists allegedly trying to rob two men there at 11.36pm on Thursday.
When the two men managed to escape, the group turned their attention to Khairul and his friends.
The group then demanded that Khairul and his friends hand over their mobile phones and other valuables.
When the victim did not bow to the group's order, they hit him with blunt objects causing a scuffle and Khairul to fall into the lake.
A friend jumped in to try and save him but Khairul drowned.
Police and the Fire and Rescue Department discovered Khairul's body at around 1.30am on Friday.
Khairul's father managed to track down and catch the alleged leader of the group before handing him to the police.
Police later arrested six other boys, all aged between 13 and 16.
