SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 27-year-old man believed to be involved in a series of extortion cases.
On Jun 2, a 25-year-old victim lodged a police report informing that the suspect, whom she befriended in 2014, demanded money in exchange for not posting compromising videos of her online.
Out of fear, the victim transferred $14,000 to several bank accounts provided by the suspect over a period of nine months.
The police arrested the suspect on Jun 3 at about 10.30pm.
If convicted, the man will face a jail term between two and 10 years and caning.
