3 appointed to Presidential Council for Minority Rights

The Presidential Council for Minority Rights (PCMR) announced on Thursday that President Tony Tan Keng Yam has appointed 3 persons to the council.

They are Archbishop William Goh Seng Chye, Shaikh Syed Isa bin Mohamed Semait and Mr Surjit Singh s/o Wazir Singh.

The three new members will serve a three-year term starting from April 1 this year.

On Thursday, Shaikh Syed Isa bin Mohamed Semait and Mr Surjit Singh s/o Wazir Singh were presented letters of appointment at the Istana at a ceremony officiated by the President.

They also took their oaths before Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon.

Archbishop William Goh was sworn in by the Chief Justice at a separate ceremony on Wednesday.

With the new additions, the PCMR now has a total of 19 members.
