3 arrested after CNB seizes $115,000 of drugs

SINGAPORE - More than $115,000 worth of drugs and $28,800 in cash have been seized by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) - leading to the arrest of three men.

The haul of 1.07kg of heroin and 18g of "Ice" was enough to sustain 512 drug abusers for a week, the bureau said.

At about 1pm on Wednesday, officers stationed around Handy Road spotted the first suspect, a 51-year-old man, getting into a black car.

Five minutes later, he got off at Grange Road and the vehicle moved off with its two other male occupants - the 38-year-old driver and a 43-year-old passenger.

While a group of officers tracked the car, others moved in to arrest the first suspect.

The man was carrying a sling bag with about 1,047g of heroin, 18g of Ice, $13,430 in cash and a digital weighing scale.

The suspect also had more than $2,300 on him.

At about 1.30pm, when the black car stopped at the junction of Tanjong Katong Road and Mountbatten Road, officers moved in and arrested the other two men, recovering $13,050 from inside the car, CNB said yesterday.

About 27g of heroin, a digital weighing scale and other drug paraphernalia were also recovered by the authorities from the home of the driver.

The three suspects are currently being investigated for drug trafficking.

A follow-up operation later that day saw six suspected drug abusers - two women and four men - arrested as well.
