3 arrested over missing marine fuel on Singapore-registered vessel

SINGAPORE - Police have arrested three men who are suspected to have misappropriated about 67 metric tonnes (MT) of Marine Gas Fuel (MGF) worth about $57,000 on board a Singapore-registered vessel.

The alleged culprits are the Superintendent, Chief Engineer and 3rd Engineer of the vessel.

On Thursday (Nov 27) morning, police coast guard received information regarding the missing MGF on board a Singapore-registered vessel. 

Preliminary investigations revealed that 67 MT of MGF was missing from the vessel.

Cash amounting to 50,000 RMB, which is believed to be connected to the case, was also seized.

The three persons will be charged in court on Saturday. They could be jailed up to 15 years and fined, if found guilty.
