3 charged with murder flaunt gang affiliation

They were unrepentant even after being charged with murder.

Three men who are believed to be members of the 04 triad in Malaysia showed four fingers to depict their gang number when they were led out from a magistrate's court in Malacca after being charged, Malaysia's The Star reported on Saturday.

The accused, P. Narendranpathy, 26, P. Sethupathi, 25, and Aiman Mazlan, 21, smiled when press photographers rushed to take their pictures outside the courthouse.

The three looked calm when the charges were read to them before magistrate Syajaratudur Abd Rahman.

But no plea was recorded during the proceedings on Friday.

Based on the statement of facts, the trio, together with another individual who is still at large, allegedly caused the death of Mr R.R. Sivan, 32, at Taman Bertam Jaya at 10pm on May 4.

They were charged with murder, which carries the death penalty upon conviction.
