SINGAPORE - Three children were rescued from a fire that was raging inside an Admiralty flat.
According to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), they were alerted to the fire at 12.25pm today and arrived at the unit within five minutes.
SCDF said the unit located at Blk 356C Admiralty Drive was heavily smoked logged, and involved the contents of the living room and the kitchen. Firefighters had to force their way into the 7th floor flat.
According to a report on citizen journalism website Stomp, a contributor said thick, black smoke was seen coming from the flat, and that the grills on the balcony had melted due to the heat of the blaze.
The children were rescued from the toilet in the master bedroom, and were sent to KK Women's & Children's Hospital in an SCDF ambulance.
The fire was extinguished within 15 minutes of SCDF's arrival.
About 50 residents from surrounding units evacuated on their own.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
