39-year-old man arrested for suspected bicycle theft

SINGAPORE - A 39-year-old man who is believed to be involved in several cases of bicycle theft in Jurong East and Jurong West housing estates has been arrested.

In a statement on Wednesday, police said that they were informed of a bicycle theft case on Jun 2 at 8.10pm.

The victim said that he had secured his bicycle at the allocated bicycle stand at 6.40am, but discovered that it was missing when he returned from work.

The police managed to obtain descriptions of the suspect and establish his identity through police camera footage and ground enquiries.

He was subsequently arrested at Jurong East on Tuesday, Jun 30. Five bicycles were also recovered and seized as exhibits.

The man will be charged in court on Thursday. If found guilty, he faces up to three years in jail, a fine, or both.
