409 arrested in anti-crime operations

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested 409 suspects in a series of anti-crime operations conducted between Aug 30 and Sep 6.

The week-long operation, led by Central Police Division, targeted illicit and criminal activities at various locations across the division. Enforcement checks were conducted at public entertainment outlets and massage establishments.

In addition, 4 illegal gambling dens and 2 online vice syndicates that operated at hotels and private apartments were busted.

A total of 78 males and 331 females between the ages of 15 to 82 were arrested for various offences, which include illegal employment, unlicensed money-lending, soliciting in public places and illegal punting.

Investigations are ongoing.
