SINGAPORE - Police have arrested a 46-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Outrage of Modesty at an LRT Station in the vicinity of Fernvale housing estate.
On Oct 2, 2014 at about 11.02pm, a 32-year-old woman lodged a police report that she had been molested by an unknown man while they were about to board the LRT train at about 6.45pm on the same day.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and on Oct 3 at about 5.25pm, thye swiftly arrested the man in the vicinity of Fernvale Link. The arrest came within 18 hours from the time the report was lodged.
Investigations against the suspect are ongoing.
For the offence of Outrage of Modesty, the suspect may be jailed for up to two years, or fined, and is also liable to caning.
Members of public are advised to stay calm when they encounter such a crime while travelling on public transport. They should call '999' at once or inform the bus/train captain or seek help from other commuters immediately to report the matter, said the police statement.
