5 arrested for rioting with deadly weapon in Woodlands

SINGAPORE - The police have arrested a group of five who allegedly attacked a 21-year-old man in Woodlands on Tuesday evening.

One of the suspected assailants used a knife to injure the victim in the fight that took place along Woodlands Avenue 3 at around 6.30pm.

The assailants fled before the police arrived at the scene.

After conducting extensive enquiries and combing through CCTV footage, the police managed to establish the suspects' identities and arrested them in various locations the next day.

The five male suspects, aged between 16 and 22, will be charged in court on Friday for the offence of rioting with deadly weapon.

If convicted, each of them faces a jail term of up to 10 years and shall also be liable to caning.
