SINGAPORE - The police have arrested five teenage boys, aged between 15 and 19, for their suspected involvement in motor vehicle theft in the Jurong West neighbourhood.
On May 8, the owner of a van had parked his vehicle at a public carpark located near Blk 413 Jurong West Street 42.
He subsequently discovered that his van, believed to be driven by a stranger, was parked at another lot in the same carpark May 11. He then made a police report.
After police investigation, five suspects were arrested on Jun 3.
If convicted, each faces a maximum jail term of seven years and also a fine.
The police would like to advise motor vehicles owners to engrave the vehicle registration number on the windscreens and to install an alarm system in their vehicles.
Car owners should also lock vehicle doors, wind up all windows and not leave the keys in the ignition switch.
