52-year-old man steals car after threatening woman with a penknife

On 16 July, at about 7.45am, the victim was walking towards her car parked at a multi-storey carpark at Boon Keng Road. After loading her luggage, she saw the suspect standing beside the driver side area. He then confronted her with a penknife before entering the car and driving off. The car was later found abandoned along Upper Boon Keng Road.

Police have arrested a 52-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery.

On 16 July 2014 at about 7.45am, the victim was walking towards her car parked at one of the multi-storey carpark at Boon Keng Road. After loading her luggage into the car, she saw the suspect standing beside the driver side area. The suspect then confronted her with a penknife before entering the car and driving it off from the incident location. The car was subsequently found abandoned along Upper Boon Keng Road.

Upon receiving the report, officers from the Bedok Police Division conducted intensive ground enquires and investigations to establish the identity of the suspect. The officers' efforts were paid off when they arrested the suspect in the vicinity of Geylang on 17 July 2014 at about 12.40pm.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 19 July 2014 for an offence of Armed Robbery under Section 392 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code. If convicted, he faces a jail term of up to 14 years and not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
