59-year-old looking for love again in unconventional way

SINGAPORE - A 59-year-old man in Singapore is looking for love, and he's doing it in a non-conventional way.

Mr Steven Chan, a second generation "karang guni" (rag-and-bone) man according to Shin Min Daily News, has placed a banner for his desired partner on his lorry. On the banner, he stated his requirements for his partner in English and Mandarin, including her age, nationality and marital status.

Mr Chan told Shin Min that he is looking for love again after a failed marriage with his ex-wife, whom he has a 23-year-old daughter with one year into his marriage 20 years ago. His wife and him were married after two months of courtship.

Mr Chan said that what led to his divorce were frequent arguments and differences in thinking between him and his wife. He now wants a partner whom he can eat with and take care of.

So have any suitable candidates responded?

According to Mr Chan, a 46-year-old woman has contacted him since he placed the banner on his lorry and has arranged a meeting with him next week.

"Once, I received a call from a man thinking I was a matchmaker. He was also looking for a partner.

"I do not mind if my partner has her own business. The most important thing to me is that we have the same goals and understand each other," Mr Chan added.
