596 Mindef and SAF personnel awarded for outstanding performance

SINGAPORE - 596 personnel from Ministry of Defence (Mindef) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) were presented awards Friday evening in recognition of their outstanding performance and dedication to duty and service.

At the ceremony, Second Minister for Defence Mr Chan Chun Sing and Minister of State for Defence Dr Mohamad Maliki Bin Osman officiated at the National Day Awards Investiture 2014 held at MINDEF.

A total of 81 Commendation Medals, 114 Efficiency Medals and 415 Long Service Medals were given out to both military and non-military personnel.

14 personnel received both the Commendation/Efficiency Medal and the Long Service Medal.

Spouses of the award recipients, as well as senior Mindef officials and SAF officers were also present at the investiture.

Yesterday, 387 Home Team officers were awarded at an annual presentation ceremony that commends outstanding Home Team officers for their competency and commitment to making Singapore a safer nation to live, work and play in.

The Investiture of the National Day Awards for the Ministry of Home Affairs held on Nov 12 was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Teo Chee Hean.

Later this month, President Dr Tony Tan Keng Yam will officiate at the National Day Awards Ceremony on Nov 23.

At the ceremony, 30 senior SAF officers will receive the Public Administration Medal.

Two SAF officers will be awarded the Public Administration Medal (Gold) (Military), while 12 and 16 SAF officers will be awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) (Military), and Public Administration Medal (Bronze) (Military) respectively.
