81 of Singapore's best brands and services honoured at AsiaOne People's Choice Awards 2015

SINGAPORE - Over 250,000 votes later, the best brands and services across 27 categories have been chosen as the readers' favourites at the annual AsiaOne People's Choice Awards ceremony today.

Out of 500 nominations, 251 advanced to the voting stage. The final 81 brands and services in the 27 categories were chosen after a three-month voting period.

The banking category garnered the most votes with OCBC and POSB emerging as two of the Top Three winners, while DBS cemented its position as the Best Bank after winning the top spot for five years in a row.

For that feat, DBS was inducted into the Hall of Fame together with Singapore Airlines, which has also been voted as the Best Full-fledged Airline for five years in a row. The other Top Three winners in the Best Full-fledged Airline category are Cathay Pacific and Emirates.

To reflect changes in consumer trends, two new categories were introduced: Best Online Retailer and Best Brunch Restaurant.

Qoo10, Lazada, and Taobao proved to be the most popular sites for online shopping among AsiaOne readers. Wild Honey, GRUB and Maison Ikkoku were voted as their favourite restaurants for brunch.

Mr Adrian Tay, Editor, AsiaOne, said: "The choices made available to consumers are endless. Our readers have done the legwork for consumers by nominating and voting for the best in choice brands and services, saving consumers' time and making it easier for them to narrow their search."

At the awards ceremony at M Hotel, AsiaOne also officially launched its newly revamped mobile apps, which are available for free across all iOS platforms and Android smartphones.

AsiaOne also announced its partnership with social service organisation Students Care Service (SCS) at the awards ceremony. The tie-up, forged as part of AsiaOne's corporate social responsibility efforts in the year of its 20th anniversary, will see both entities working together to boost publicity for SCS.

Ms Rae Mok Rui Wen, SCS Manager, Community Partnership, said: "It is our hope that through the sharing of their stories they would be able to affirm themselves, inspire others and provide encouragement for SCS in the work that we do."

"We hope that these stories will increase the public's awareness of the emotional and psychological needs of children and youth, and provide support for them and the work of children and youth organisations like SCS," she added.
