81-year-old retired nurse dies in hit-and-run accident

SINGAPORE - An 81-year-old former nurse has died after being involved in a hit-and-run accident that happened at 12.40pm on Saturday.

Chinese daily Lianhe Wanbao reported that she was knocked down while crossing a road and was rushed to the hospital. She died from multiple injuries at about 9.25pm.

The accident happened near the junction of Henderson Road and Jalan Bukit Merah.

According to the paper, the truck driver did not stop and help the elderly lady, but instead fled the scene.

The report added that the middle-aged truck driver has been arrested in connection to the case.

Investigations are ongoing.
