86 drug offenders arrested in 4-day strike

SINGAPORE - 86 drug offenders were arrested during a four-day (June 15 to June 19) island-wide operation by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB).

A press statement by CNB revealed that among the drugs seized were 157g of heroin, 160g of 'Ice', 27g of ketamine, 82 'Ecstasy' tablets, 293 Erimin-5 tablets and a small amount of cannabis.

Officers covered the areas of Bukit Merah, Bukit Panjang, Boon Lay, Geylang Bahru, Marsiling, Tampines, Toa Payoh and Woodlands. Investigations on all the suspects are ongoing.

CNB also arrested a 25-year-old Singaporean suspected drug user in Geylang Bahru on June 17. Investigations then led them to arrest a 39-year-old male Singaporean drug trafficker in the vicinity. About 25g of 'Ice and 50 'Ecstasy' tablets were recovered from him.

A further search in drug trafficker's vehicle produced about 278 Erimin-5 tablets, 25 'Ecstasy' tablets, 25g of ketamine, 32g of 'Ice' and a small amount of heroin. Various drug paraphernalia, including a digital weighing scale, were also found.

Officers then proceeded to raid the hideout of the 39-year-old male; a private housing unit in Pasir Ris. Small amounts of various drugs, including 'Ice', ketamine, heroin and 'Ecstasy' were seized.

Investigations into the drug trafficking activities of the 39-year-old male are ongoing.
