SINGAPORE - 88 people were arrested by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) in a two-day islandwide operation targeted at illicit drug activities.
More than 1.5kg of heroin and other drugs were seized in the operation which took place from Sep 10 to 12, said CNB in a statement on Friday. The total drug haul had an estimated street value of over $147,000.
Singapore Police Force (SPF) officers also supported the operation that was conducted in areas including Ang Mo Kio, Bukit Batok East, Chai Chee, Commonwealth, Jurong West, Simei, Tampines and Woodlands.
In one of the operations on Sep 11, CNB officers arrested a 28-year-old male Singaporean in Commonwealth at about 1.40pm. The suspected drug trafficker was brought to his hideout in a housing block unit in the area, where officers found about 1,440g of heroin, 750g of cannabis and drug-related items. The drugs seized had an estimated street value of more than $125,000. A 30-year-old female Singaporean suspected of abusing drugs was also arrested in the unit.
Investigations are on-going.
