89 suspects arrested for various offences in anti-crime blitz

89 suspects were arrested for various offences in a multi-agency joint enforcement operation conducted from May 22 to May 24, the police said in a statement on Tuesday.

During the three-day operation, checks were conducted on 1,240 people and 1,520 vehicles at multiple locations in the western part of Singapore as well as the Land Checkpoints.

A total of 89 suspects were arrested for various offences such as involvement in unlicensed moneylending activities and vice activities, as well as drug-related offences and immigration offences.

Following extensive probes, raids were also conducted to weed out illicit online vice activities which resulted in the arrest of 26 women aged between 22 and 41.

In addition, three women and five men were arrested for trespassing state land at the forested areas along Kranji Loop.

Nine other suspects were also arrested during a disruption of drug peddling activities at Bukit Batok.

The police said that Investigations against all the suspects are ongoing.

The operation was led by Jurong Police Division and supported by the Traffic Police, Central Narcotics Bureau, Immigration & Checkpoints Authority and Singapore Civil Defence Force.
