Despite a comprehensive debate on MediShield Life in Parliament over the past two days, some social activists are still unsatisfied and want more answers.
On Saturday, they plan to hold a protest in Hong Lim Park to highlight what they believe to be gaps in the measures in place to protect the health-care needs of Singaporeans.
The event, which will begin at 4pm, will include speakers from opposition parties, as well as blogger Roy Ngerng. Mr Ngerng is facing a defamation suit by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong for alleging that PM Lee criminally misappropriated Central Provident Fund (CPF) monies.
The organisers of the rally were also behind a protest against the CPF early last month.
At a media conference yesterday, protest organiser Han Hui Hui, 22, and rally speaker Leong Sze Hian, 60, said they were unsatisfied with the statements made in Parliament on MediShield Life and demanded "more transparency and accountability" from the Government.
"What (the Government) has given us is just verbal assurances. What we want is concrete evidence," said Ms Han.
