Actress' maids jailed for stealing cash

KUALA LUMPUR - Two maids who worked for actress Nur Fasha Sandha Hassan were sentenced to six months' jail for stealing cash from their employer's home.

The Indonesians, known only as Nilawati, 39, and Sri Maniami, 35, pleaded guilty to stealing the cash from their employer Rizal Ashram Ramli.

The crime, under Section 381 for theft, occurred at Rizal Ashram's home in Duta Suria, Ampang, at around 9.45pm on March 12.

The 38-year-old Rizal, also known as Jejai, tied the knot with Fasha in 2012.

The facts of the case stated that on the day of the incident, Rizal was informed by his personal assistant that his neighbours noticed that Rizal's home was left unlocked and that the maids were missing.

When the police arrested Nilawati and Sri Maniami, they found about RM200 (S$78) in cash on the two maids.

The duo, who were unrepresented, pleaded with magistrate Zul-yana Zollkapli for leniency, saying that they took the money to go home and be with their family during Ramadan.
