GEORGE TOWN: Police have completed investigations into the alleged molestation of a six-year-old girl by a 67-year-old man, George Town OCPD Asst Comm Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said.

He said the investigation paper had already been submitted to the deputy public prosecutor.

"It's up to the DPP's office to decide the next course of action," he said when asked yesterday on the progress of the case when he attended an event for special needs children at a hotel here.

ACP Mior Faridalathrash said police released the suspect on Wednesday after his remand order ended.

It was reported earlier that the suspect is the husband of the six-year-old girl's previous babysitter and whom the girl called 'Ah Kong'.

He was arrested at his apartment in Paya Terubong at 3.45pm on Sunday.

The girl's mother had lodged a police report in late April after she was told by the present babysitter that the girl always slept with her hands covering her private parts.
