In one of their last activities of the year here, Albirex Niigata presented Yuhua Community Sports Club (CSC) with a cheque worth $19,386 on Sunday, keeping their promise to give the CSC $1 for every fan who walked through the turnstiles at their Jurong East Stadium home in 2013.
"They supported us to help bring fans to our stadium, and through this, we support them in return," said Albirex chairman Daisuke Korenaga.
"This is just one part of our strong collaboration with the community in Jurong." Yuhua CSC chairman Lim Chock Sing received the cheque on the sidelines of their youth football fiesta.
Also in attendance was Minister from the Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs, Grace Fu, who is looking forward to a stronger partnership with the S-League side, who are now into their 10th year in Singapore.
Said Fu: "Albirex has been very supportive, and not just through this financial donation. We're discussing if we can have more collaboration to try to build a ground up appreciation for the sport.
We're very grateful for the contribution, we intend to use this money to fund the football movement in Yuhua."
