Amos Yee slapped by man on way to court

SINGAPORE - Teenage blogger Amos Yee, on his way to court today (April 30), was reportedly slapped by a middle-aged man. The man subsequently fled after taunting Yee, saying: "Sue me, come and sue me".

Channel NewsAsia reported that Yee was walking to the State Courts for a pre-trial conference when he was struck.

In a video shared online by AFP journalist Bhavan Jaipragas, the assailant, in a red shirt, can be heard taunting Yee in the video. Yee held his face in pain and carried on walking after being hit.

Channel NewsAsia reported that Yee's lawyers have advised the family to make a police report.

It also said that Yee's father had walked in to court a few minutes before Yee, and that Yee's bailor, counsellor Vincent Law, was also seen at court.

Yee was charged on March 31 with several offences, including attacking Christianity in a YouTube video.
