Aung San Suu Kyi calls on Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu
Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi (left) began her first visit to Singapore on Friday, Sept 20, 2013, by calling on Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu.

They met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in the afternoon and Ms Fu reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Singapore and Myanmar.

According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Minister Fu also conveyed Singapore's continued commitment to support Myanmar's economic and social development.

In the evening, Ms Suu Kyi attended the Singapore Summit Welcome dinner, where Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong delivered the Summit Keynote Address.

Chairperson of the Lower House Committee for Rule of Law, Peace and Tranquility in the Myanmar Parliament and Chairperson of the National League for Democracy Daw Aung San Suu Kyi called on Minister, Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister for the Environment and Water Resources, and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

Minister Grace Fu reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Singapore and Myanmar, and conveyed our continued commitment to support Myanmar’s economic and social development. Minister Grace Fu and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi exchanged views on domestic developments in Myanmar. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi shared with Minister Grace Fu her work as a Member of Parliament and her thoughts on the challenges faced by the Myanmar people in this critical period of transition.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi also received a briefing from the Singapore Economic Development Board on its role in creating a conducive business environment to attract foreign investments into Singapore. This evening, she will attend the Singapore Summit Welcome Dinner, where Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will deliver the Summit Keynote Address.
