Aung San Suu Kyi calls on Singapore Minister Grace Fu
Nobel peace laureate and Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi's visit to Singapore has drawn widespread interest here, especially among the local Myanmar community. Some 5,000 have signed up for her scheduled meeting with Singapore-based Myanmar citizens.

SINGAPORE - Myanmar's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi began her first visit to Singapore on Friday by calling on Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Grace Fu.

They met at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in the afternoon and Ms Fu reaffirmed the long-standing friendship between Singapore and Myanmar.

Ms Fu, who is also a Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, also conveyed Singapore's continued commitment to supporting Myanmar's economic and social development, said MFA in a statement.

In turn, Ms Suu Kyi shared with Ms Fu her work as a Member of Parliament in Myanmar and her thoughts on the challenges faced by the people as the country goes through a transition.
