Bank's security guard grabs loot after shooting colleague dead

The bank employee was opening a bank safe with a colleague in Petaling Jaya, near Kuala Lumpur. With them was the bank's security guard.

The moment Ms Norazita Abu Talib, a mother of two, opened the safe, the guard shot her in the face with a gun.

She died on the spot.

The incident happened on Wednesday evening.

Ms Norazita is believed to have been shot from a distance of 5m, The Star reported.

The guard then filled a bag with money and fled the scene on a motorcycle, the report said.

It is not known how much money he took.

The New Straits Times reported that Ms Norazita had been an AmBank employee for the last 16 years.

Selangor deputy police chief Deputy Commissioner Abdul Rahim Jaafar said there were five employees in the bank, including the suspect, during the incident.

He said: "The security firm said the guard was meant to be a replacement and had worked in another bank before."

FAKE IC

He said that checks on the guard's identity card revealed that it was a fake.

Said Mr Abdul Rahim: "We are going to look into this more and find out how he was employed with a fake IC."

The police have cautioned the public to be on full alert, describing the suspect as armed and dangerous.

They have also recorded statements from bank employees and Ms Norazita's husband.

An AmBank spokesman said the bank would offer help to the victim's family.

The Home Ministry said it will revoke the operating licence of the security guard's employer.

CCTV recording Ms Norazita's last moments has been uploaded on YouTube.

In the 33-second video, she and her colleague have their backs to the camera.

Ms Norazita suddenly collapses and her colleague is seen covering her face and ears from the noise of the gunshot.

The assailant then runs towards the safe and drags the frantic colleague out of the room.

He walks over Ms Norazita's body and takes the money from the safe and puts it into a bag before running away.
