A man was killed after his best friend attacked him with a machete when he said that he had married a prostitute, reported Harian Metro.
Rahman Puma, 47, died from severe injuries to the head and neck following the attack by his 33-year-old best friend at about 6.30am in Lahad Datu on Friday.
The victim had just started his car in front of a shared house in the Bukit Piton forest reserve when his attacker slashed him on the head, oblivious to the screams of Rahman's six-year-old child.
Upon hearing the screams, Rahman's wife Cahaya Tahirun, 35, and colleague Akbar, in his 20s, tried to break up the fight, but they too were attacked.
Akbar's right ear was severed and Cahaya sustained head injuries.
The attacker then fled the scene, after which neighbours rushed the victims to hospital for treatment and informed the police.
Lahad Datu OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Ahmad said the suspect was arrested about two hours later near the scene of the incident.
Police recovered a 70cm-long machete, which was believed to be the weapon used.
