Body of woman found at MacRitchie Reservoir

A body believed to be that of a 22-year-old woman who went missing at MacRitchie Reservoir on Tuesday, was found floating near the jetty on Wednesday morning.

According to media reports, the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) were notified at about 7.20am about the discovery.

A spokesperson for the SCDF said the body was found floating about 5m away from the shore. SCDF and PUB officers assisted in the retrieval of the body. A female Chinese in her 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.

The SCDF had been alerted at 12.50pm on Tuesday about a body being seen in the reservoir, but a spokesperson said the search was called off at 7pm due to failing light, reported Channel NewsAsia.

According to The New Paper, a search had been triggered after her belongings were found at the park.

An AsiaOne reader, Ms Lim, said she was jogging at MacRitchie on Tuesday afternoon at about 1.30pm and was surprised to see a policeman and several SCDF vehicles in the area.
