Bogus cops rape woman

SINGAPORE - Two men pretending to be policemen allegedly raped a woman and robbed her and her male companion.

The impersonators "raided" a hotel room in Rawang town, Selangor, at about 6pm on Saturday and threatened to arrest the couple for vice activities, district police chief Assistant Commissioner (AC) Abdul Rahim Abdullah said.

Two men, aged 25 and 37, have been arrested, reported the New Straits Times.

One suspect took the man outside, saying they were going to a police station.

Said AC Abdul: "The second suspect then raped the female victim before robbing her of her belongings. The other suspect returned and also raped the victim."

The male victim was abandoned at a secluded spot.

Malaysian police have arrested two men aged 25 and 37 for robbing a couple and raping the female victim in Rawang town in Selangor on Tuesday morning.

The men, aged 25 and 37, had allegedly impersonated policemen when they "raided" a hotel room in in Rawang town in Selangor that the victims were in at about 6pm on Saturday.

The district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Abdul Rahim Abdullah, said the suspects identified themselves as told the couple that they were police officers and threatened to arrest them for vice activities.

The police said that one of the suspects then took the male victim outside, claimingsaying that he wanted to escort the victim take him to a police station.

"The second suspect then raped the female victim before robbing her of her belongings. The other suspect returned and also raped the victim," he said.

The police said that the male victim was driven to a secluded spot and abandoned.

AC Abdul said the male victim returned to the hotel room the next morning with real policemen after realising that the suspects were bogus officers.

He said the male victim was robbed of RM500 (S$195).

The female victim, 18, was sent to Selayang Hospital for a check-up.

Arrested

Police said CCTV footage helped them to identify the suspects, who were later arrested at about 2.30am on Monday.

The suspects were detained at a security guard's post in Taman Setia, Batu 16 in Rawang by officers from the Gombak Criminal Investigation Department unit and Rawang Crime Prevention Team at about 2.30am on Tuesday on Monday.

Police seized a packet of methamphetamine, a handcuff key, six handphones - including those taken from the couple - and 17 SIM cards.

A Honda Wave motorcycle used during the crime was also seized.
