Burglars dug a 150-foot tunnel up to the locker room of the Gohana branch of the Punjab National Bank in the Sonipat district of Haryana, broke into 90 out of 350 heavy metal safes and stole crores worth of valuables. The tunnel was 2.5 feet wide and dug in stretches from adjoining buildings to the bank's locker room. The theft was discovered only on the morning of Oct 27, when the bank manager went to inspect the room. Several customers protested the next day, seeking to recover their valuables.
